Game Jam entry for https://itch.io/jam/coding-blocks-game-jam-22

The theme was "It's  following me" and the original idea was for the player to have to balance important objectives (the boss) with more urgent ones (lesser enemies).

That idea got lost in the shuffle somewhere, but I learned a lot along the way. Speaking of learning experiences, most of the assets (cheated on the fonts) in this game were created during the jam. Probably never doing that again, just not my thing, but it was a good experience.

Extra special shout out to Michael Outlaw who created all of the audio, and there's a lot it! I'd never worked with audio before, and I still have a lot to learn, but it was really cool.

Huge thanks to Kenney, for the amazing tools and fonts! I used Asset Forge and KenShape for the art.

Tips for the game...

  • Your trail damages the boss, but it's not nearly as damaging as the asteroids
  • Keep the boss near, but keep moving to spread your damage around, the lesser enemies are weak
  • The top and bottom of the level are bounded, try to stay towards the middle
  • Don't let anything get too close, things can still kill you while they're blowing up

Lessons Learned

  • Half the "feature" work
  • Double the UX work
  • Splitting efforts between coding and art is fun and frustrating

I really like this concept! Very creative. I also love the audio lol :P

Thanks! The audio added so much soul, which in retrospect was completely missing without it.
